Ice Cream, Pound Cake, and Meat

Another jam packed weekend is over. Some crazy and not so crazy stuff went down. Friday - I got off work and practically skipped to my car. I went over to see my sister, my niece, and my grandma. Hung out with them for awhile and then I came up with the bright idea to go on my first outing alone with my niece in the rain. It was raining lightly so I thought it wasn't a big deal. By the time we got out there, it was POURING. She had fun but I was freaking out. I thought it would be great to get ice cream for dessert (for all of us) and Mexican food (for me) for dinner. So we got the ice cream first and there was a lot of melting, sucking of teeth, and getting mad at the ice cream place that puts their ice cream in plastic containers so when you hold it, it squishes and melted ice cream spills everywhere. Great fun.

Saturday - I won tickets to a preview of The Bourne Supremacy but I spent all my time baking a cake so I couldn't pick them up. Yup, you heard me. Baking a cake. And it was the bomb! My parents had a party at their house and we had a house full of 12 people. We had everything from red beans and rice to cornbread to peach cobbler. It was fun and the cake turned out great. It got rave reviews and that only makes sense because it was a Tyler Florence recipe. The cake I made was a Cinnamon Swirl Pound Cake. I forgot how much of a triumph it was and didn't take pictures. It was delicious but bad for you (4 sticks of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 2 cups of brown sugar, etc). Just can't eat it everyday. Plus, I learned how to blanche almonds a.k.a. spreading out almonds on baking sheet and baking for 10 minutes. Delish!

Sunday - went to church and hung out with my parents. Worked on a new baby hat for the store (cross your fingers). It's going to be cute! I met a cutie pie when I went out on Wednesday so we had our first date last night. I had such a good time! We went to a Brazilian grill restaurant where you just get served meat all night. I think that's why I didn't sleep well at all last night. Plus, I was freaked out a little bit on the date. Took me about a half hour to chill out because I was watching Six Feet Under before I left. The most disturbing episode I have ever seen and if you saw it, you know what I mean. *shudder* My favorite parts of every show are the opening credits (and they give insight here!) and when someone dies at the beginning of every show. Maybe I'm disturbed. :)
