FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

WATERCOLOR AND ILLUSTRATION

1. How did you get started in illustration?

I went to school for photojournalism and digital media.  From there I was exposed to creating digital art in Photoshop and Illustrator.  I absolutely loved it and wrote & illustrated my first children's book in this style.  However, I always wanted an organic feeling in my work that I couldn't quite get.  I had been drawn to watercolor but I was intimidated as well.  I always heard it was a hard medium to use so I steered clear.

Eventually I went for it and started teaching myself how to work with watercolor.  I fell in love!  I haven't looked back since and my work is primarily in watercolor and pencil.

2. What is the hardest thing for you to draw?

I would say bicycles but human anatomy is up there too.  We are so beautifully difficult to draw, but I love the challenge!

3. How did you find an illustration style?

I'm not even sure if I have one.  No, but honestly there was a point where I was OBSESSED with finding my style and over the years, this is what I've learned.  First, get inspired and find out what you like and why you like it.  Then incorporate those things in your work and discard what you don't.  Eventually you will have your own style, it is inevitable.  (and fun!)

4. What materials do you use?

Watercolor, pencil, colored pencils and stabilo pencils....so far.

Here is my watercolor set up.  Always growing and changing.

This list has everything that is currently in my kit.

I recommend this set up for beginners.

9. Is there anything else I should know?

COPYRIGHT NOTE:
Purchase does not transfer copyright ownership. Please do not use my work without permission, or claim it as your own.

PRINTING INFORMATION:
The colors shown of the prints may be slightly different when they arrive due to different computer monitors. Also, I paint on cold press (textured) paper so the background is not pure white, it shows those bumps and bobbles which I feel add to the watercolor look and feel of an original print.

SHIPPING COSTS:
My shipping costs cover postage, packaging, plus my payment processing fees. The cost of the item itself covers production of chosen item. This makes things easier on my end when it comes to adding up costs.
