Editorial Work - Digital Nomads.

Make Art that Sells (MATS) Bootcamp is now officially over.  I learned so much about my work process and how to work with direction thinking of the end in mind.  I need to put my finished pieces in my portfolio too.  The last piece was an editorial assignment based on a magazine article about digital nomads.

If you are considering taking any of the courses, I think bootcamp is a good place to start because you get to experience different art markets.

On Repeat

One of the things I've always wanted to do was design patterns.  Which is pretty odd because wearing patterns scares me.  I know big prints overwhelm and other cardinal rules like that but I usually steer clear and just stick with basics.  I took yet another Skillshare class (love!) and it was excellent.  I just worked out my first digital pattern because of my love of juicing my green juice and I'm pleased with how it turned out!  There is a LOT of adjusting involved with this so where the repeat isn't obvious and you get a good flow.  It is incessant but necessary, just a little warning.

I am going to submit it to Spoonflower so I can have it available there and maybe there will be a pair of sister pants made for Addy and her little sister?  I hope so, so excited.

I wonder what I should make into a pattern next.

I took another Skillshare class (I'm addicted) and I loved it.  Of course.  Brad Woodward's Digital Illustration class was fantastic.  The project was to illustrate the word Loud or Quiet.  At first I chose Loud but when I started brainstorming, I quickly headed over to the Quiet side.  This is my final illo.  I'm open to critiques, so let me know yay or nay.

Speaking of Quiet, my first published book Queen Quail is Quiet has been out for 6 months this month!  I can't wait to work on another book and for now I'm creating small projects for my shop.

Thanks for visiting and come back soon!

First YouTube Video!

I got over my stage-fright, geeked out and figured out how to screen-capture every 4 seconds so I could compile those images into a movie via iMovie!  I wanted to share my digital process in video form, I hope you enjoy. Don't forget to like and subscribe!

Now we are heading out to Denver Comic Con!  Hope the wait isn't too long to get in. :)

Have a great weekend!

Illustration Friday - Storm

Bunny is so hungry, there's a storm in his belly.

My attempt for Illustration Friday's Storm. Some parts of my Illustrator process take too long so I wanted to see if I could work on those with this image.  The experiment was a success, working in AI is a puzzle sometimes.

I'm reading a few books at the moment:
