The Make Art that Sells (MATS) class has had a break for March which was a perfect excuse to take another class even though I'm on maternity leave. (I'm crazy if you didn't already know.) But seriously, the class is called CreativeGIRL: Storybooks and Studious Girls by Danielle Donaldson. It has been perfect and I knew what I could handle so this worked out great. The class doesn't have a deadline, it has a work at your own pace schedule and you have lifetime access to the content (for as long as the site is up and running).

My friend Christie told me about the class so we are taking it together. Her art has grown so much so definitely follow me (@fluximagery) and her (@christiedrahnak) on Instagram.

Getting back into action with watercolor and I love the way Danielle teaches. So many techniques and lessons finally clicked for me. Love it.

What I'm Working On - No. 2

The Make Art That Sells class has started and I'm loving it. It's uncomfortable too, which is a good sign. The first assignment gives you a "mini" so we were told our topic was Edwardian Brooches. We needed to design our own and draw like crazy. Then after the week is up we get the next steps on what our main assignment is. So now we know that our assignment is to make a journal cover, very cool!

I'm in the second week so all the sketches are pretty much done and I've started working on the digital side with my stylus, iPad and Inkpad app. Once I'm finished with this stage I'll sit at my desk computer and work in Illustrator.

A Self-Prescribed Time Out.

take a time out I've been enjoying my vacation so much. Downtime with my munchkin and husband, it's been great to just have an all around time out and get recharged. Plus I LOVE not having to get up and go all the time when I am 30 weeks along. I waddle with the best of them and I'm just more tired this time around. Could be in part due to the munchkin, the cold weather with barely any sunlight (really don't like) or just me. The shop is closed until January, I've been painting a bit and I also just finished reading this book, Urban Watercolor Sketching: A Guide to Drawing, Painting, and Storytelling in Color. This book had some good watercolor advice, application techniques and just good information if you are starting out with watercolor or have been working with it for awhile.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and the New Year is kind to you!

Inktober

Inktober Inktober

Inktober

There is a yearly drawing event called Inktober (#inktober) and it's going on the entire month of October.  The participants grab whatever drawing tool that uses ink and go for it with an Inktober drawing.  It doesn't have to be daily, it can be anything you like.  It's not too late to join either, come draw with me!

I didn't have a daily goal but so far I've made a drawing every day.  We'll see how long I can keep this up.  I love the art community and having little challenges like this.

Giving me yet another kick in the pants that I sorely need. You should follow me on Twitter or Instagram, I always post them there.

24 Hour Comics Day

I've always wanted to participate in 24 Hour Comics Day and this weekend I did.  This is a day where you draw comics for 24 hours and you can document a day in your life or you can just work on a comics story.  I documented our Saturday and I loved it.  I lasted 14 hours and the panels I didn't draw would be of us sleeping anyway so I consider this a win.  :)  Hope you can read my chicken scratch. Click the images to make the bigger.  Thanks for checking out my first comic!
