There was a Chiustream/Sketchoholic contest about three hours ago and although the stream ended an hour and a half ago, I couldn’t stop working. The topic was “Big Mouth” which was nice because it was a little broader topic than usual. The topics are usually “dodo or rabbit, etc”, they are more concrete. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to submit a complete piece for the contests there. Scratch that, I know I will someday. I already worked so much faster and looser on this piece, lots of progress. Check out more entries!
I love anything that pampers so I love loofah sponges. The plastic kind but they seem to always fall apart. My husband is anti-loofah, just like a lot of other guys I think are as well. When we were at Walgreens yesterday I saw the Dove Men+Care line and they have this manly version of a loofah that I want. It’s called the Active Clean Dual-Sided Shower Tool (hehe, love the name) and I think it is the coolest thing. Of course just because it says “men” on it doesn’t mean I won’t be buying one. Way to make a loofah masculine Dove! I dig it.
Raul still isn’t going for it though. Ah well. Oh, have you seen this Old Spice commercial? It cracks me up. Look at your man. Now back at me.
Have a great weekend!

Happy February people!
So much to say. I’ll try not to leave huge breaks in posts, I just haven’t been getting along with my words lately. Nothing has been coming out of my mouth let alone out of my fingertips and onto this blog. I have been avoiding it like the plague.
Getting my ducks in order and running around for the most part. I figured that the reason my camera and I haven’t been getting along is because I’ve outgrown the bag. That’s one of the reasons at least. So the mission for that began and my Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home arrived yesterday. Not. Impressed. I love the idea of a messenger bag style but this bag is not going to fly with me. If I have it on my shoulder the bag will slide off, if I have it across my chest all the weight is on my neck. I wanted it to work out because I was waiting impatiently for it. After work I went straight over to a local camera store and checked out their bags. I hadn’t even heard of Tenba and after lots of side by side comparisons, I walked out with a Shootout Sling. This guy did an excellent review on the bag.
I think I’ve found my match.
I’m a hard sell and I usually kill myself with research before I make my purchase. Awhile ago I went on a limb and tried out some new skincare products because I’m in a new age bracket and thought I needed a little more than Cetaphil can give. My skin was a mess after trying out Caudalie and Peter Roth Thomas. So I put that mission on hold and went back to the loving arms of Cetaphil. Then Whitney gave a review (I love her reviews) on Juice Beauty products and the mission was back on. I got samples of the Cleansing Milk and the Green Apple Antioxidant moisturizer. The cleanser gave me a reaction, red and blotchy is not normal. But the moisturizer was wonderful. I quickly bought that and I’ve been happy with the purchase ever since. My Cetaphil cleanser will not be replaced anytime soon, phew.
Hmm, what else… I used to knit a variety of shtuff back in the day and even participate in fashion events with my own little booth and everything. Well I still have some adult hats and baby hats so those will be added to my etsy store soon. Need to clear up some room in here. I hope you are interested, they are super cute.
On another girly topic, Whoorl showed me how to curl my hair with a flat iron. I’m still getting the hang of it and loving the results along the way. :: tosses hair around in slow-mo ::
I got Gears of War 2 today but I shouldn’t be playing games. So much to do!
Lastly, you must make this banana dessert. I made it for the family gathering here on Superbowl Sunday and it was a hit! So quick and delicious.

The cakes were light and the roast beef was perfectly tender. Everything turned out great and full bellies were the result. I have three more days of work before I am off for a week. A whole week people. I cannot wait. I can’t believe Christmas is only 10 days away. Right around the corner.
I have a tiny update on the topic of skincare. This probably wasn’t the best time to experiment (holidays, frigid below zero temperatures, etc), but there was no stopping me. I ditched my Philosophy cleanser and went back to Cetaphil. I figured I would just try to get benefits from a moisturizer for now so the battle is between Peter Thomas Roth’s Max Sheer All Day Defense Moisture Lotion – SPF 30 and DDF’s Ultra-Lite Oil Free Moisturizing Dew. My skin is freaking out and I hope everything goes back to normal quickly.

So I started changing up my skincare. This isn’t a new mission, it’s an ongoing one. But I have been using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer forever. Both are safe but I’m not getting anything from them. No vitamins, spf, zip. Plus, I’m getting a little oily from time to time. I read review after review and made a trip to my favorite store, Sephora.
I spoke with a consultant who was all about pure ingredients and she wouldn’t give me exact names of brands that were ph balanced with those quality ingredients. All she could do was give a tip. That tip was not moisturizing at night. She said that she used to work for Dr. Hauschka and as a result of working for that line, she hasn’t moisturized at night for 13 years. Her skin was flawless so I tried to soak up every bit of information she could give me. I ended up buying Purity by Philosphy and Peter Thomas Roth’s All Day Defense Moisture Lotion.
I think this is day three of feeling a little dry and tight without my moisturizer at night. The consultant said that your skin is repairing itself at night (I knew that) and your lymph does everything naturally by replenishing oils. If you have moisturizer added to the mix then your skin is thrown off and making extra oil. Or something like that. I need to do more research.
During the day I’m a little dry after adding my moisturizer but after a couple hours I’m okay. No need to blot any extra oil for the rest of the day either so that’s good.
All I know is my skin is tight for now. I hope it gets better soon or another product switch is in order. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Every time I sit at my computer I play Love Remains the Same by Gavin Rossdale. That’s my new favorite song for the moment.
I’m less pissy today which is awesome. I think I found a whole list of things I wouldn’t mind seeing under the Christmas tree. Sephora, how I love thee. I bought a tinted moisturizer today from there. Oil free, SPF 20, I hope it works out. Then there was this DDF moisturizer, but I resisted.
I absolutely love Sephora, my inner girlie girl was grinning a huge sparkly grin. Bonus that there are comments on there now. I used to go to Makeup Alley back in the day. I still peek from time to time.
Holy crap, it’s 10! I need to get to bed. I was eight minutes late today because I forgot my purse at home.
Not good at all people. Goodnight!

They are in countless catalogs. Tall lanky models sport them with perfectly layered outfits. My little five foot three self has wanted some forever.
Tall riding boots. I’ve thought about so many ways to wear them and then I would think they were too expensive. No way was I daring enough to switch up my style that much. Men will never understand, a woman can never have enough shoes. So I went out with Jo on Saturday to do some pre-biggest-shopping-day-ever-shopping. We tried on boots everywhere from JCPenny to Nordstroms. Everywhere. Then I found them at Macys. Forty percent off cuties that would go great with shirt dresses and under jeans.
I couldn’t say no and I rocked them today. Now to find some tights and dresses.

Too cute right? Right!

Oh, and I think I found my wedding shoes too. It was a very good shopping day.
