There was a Chiustream/Sketchoholic contest about three hours ago and although the stream ended an hour and a half ago, I couldn’t stop working. The topic was “Big Mouth” which was nice because it was a little broader topic than usual. The topics are usually “dodo or rabbit, etc”, they are more concrete. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to submit a complete piece for the contests there. Scratch that, I know I will someday. I already worked so much faster and looser on this piece, lots of progress. Check out more entries!
I love anything that pampers so I love loofah sponges. The plastic kind but they seem to always fall apart. My husband is anti-loofah, just like a lot of other guys I think are as well. When we were at Walgreens yesterday I saw the Dove Men+Care line and they have this manly version of a loofah that I want. It’s called the Active Clean Dual-Sided Shower Tool (hehe, love the name) and I think it is the coolest thing. Of course just because it says “men” on it doesn’t mean I won’t be buying one. Way to make a loofah masculine Dove! I dig it.
Raul still isn’t going for it though. Ah well. Oh, have you seen this Old Spice commercial? It cracks me up. Look at your man. Now back at me.
Have a great weekend!

I am in love with a game called Farmville on Facebook. It’s the best. I plant crops and when I harvest them I make money. It’s just fun, can’t explain it. I keep checking my farm and get impatient when my crops aren’t ready to be harvested yet.
Soon I’ll be able to expand my land. Love the concept, love the game.

I’ve been envious of the girls with boots over their jeans. Such a cool and cute look. In my mind I am still that girl in high school who loved TLC (Chili was my favorite member) and wants to be swimming in her clothes. My favorite type of jeans are boot cut and I don’t even mess with other styles. When I think about skinny jeans I think about those twiggy tall guys in legging tight sagging black jeans. Not for me in any way, shape or form.
I took the plunge and tried on some Gap skinny jeans. Completely changed my perspective, I can breathe and I love the way they fit. I do feel a little more exposed because these show off the body but I’m getting used to it. I got two wash types and I love them.
It’s nice to shatter my old style bubble from time to time.
Ok back to a hold on spending. Just couldn’t resist.

Ever since my friend bought me the Twilight soundtrack, I have only had about three CDs in rotation in the car. Twilight, Madonna’s Hard Candy and Duffy. We don’t have a big binder of CDs in the car and when I would think about switching them out, I was already in the house and lazy. I have been in love with every single that Kings of Leon has come out with lately. Sex on Fire, Use Somebody and Notion. This weekend I got the Only By The Night CD.
I LOVE IT.
Every song is sick and the lead singer’s voice is just perfect. I’m a total fan girl.
Wish I fell in love with them sooner so I could have seen them at Red Rocks on my birthday.
I should be posting about the delicious vegetarian chili and cornbread I made this weekend. Next post.

Didn’t do much today, just watched too much tv and sketched. Some days it is nice not to have anywhere to be and just be still.
A little while I ago I picked up two inspiring books and found a great resource:
Charley Harper: An Illustrated Life – The color, the design, the style and Todd Oldham too, just too much goodness in one place.
An Illustrated Life - Getting a sneak peek into the creative process of others is always a treat for me. Extra great if it is the actual sketchbooks, pretty sweet.
I think I first heard about Bobby Chiu through a tweet. I’m so glad I did, his work is sick! This is one of my favorites. He has a channel called Chiustream on Ustream where he conducts interviews with artists as well as maintaining an interactive drawing community.

I have been following a couple subscriptions on Youtube for awhile now and wanted to share.
Michelle Phan aka RiceBunny has beauty (makeup, hair and skincare) tutorials that are wonderful. She can transform into anything and since Halloween is coming up she is posting Halloween makeup tutorials. So far she has a geisha, barbie doll and vampire tutorial. Her skills are sick. Very impressed by the vampire one. Being eager for New Moon to come out might be a reason too.
Antishay has been talking about her weight loss journey since 2008. Her and her friends have had success in losing weight and it is inspiring to watch. They try to stay Below The Yellow Line which means staying within a certain amount of calories per day. Thoughts on raw food, different workouts (kettle bells!), and more. Interesting stuff.
If you have a Youtube link to share, post it por favor!
